It is even harder to find the FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS second album, BURRITO DELUXE, than it is to find their now acknowledged masterpiece THE GILDED PALACE OF SIN.
These are some of the original country rock albums. It's getting all the love and attention it deserves!
There's some legendary steel players out there such as Buddy Emmons, Jimmy Day, Ralph Mooney, Tom Brumley, Norm Hamlet, Paul Franklin, Lloyd Green, and yes, Jerry Garcia, Sneaky Pete fits right in this elite group, almost carrying this album. Gram Parsons vocals are brilliant as usual.This is an essential country/rock album . Now hearing them back to back and like 40 years on, I find gilded to be the real deal and a great album, the more revealing and historically important of the two. Their debut album The Gilded Palace Of Sin has a great title and a fine cover. Just too country. Both albums find Gram doing his thing as usual--country rock when Parsons was the most original name in the game, with some interesting arrangements and usually upper-end songwriting.
