Great casts, familiar faces, in all the productions. I really got into it and I just felt like the whole thing was splended. How Kate could have fallen in love with Petruchio, why Petruchio would have bothered with Kate as opposed to the rich widow, how Kate would have turned from a strident Women's Libber to a woman who cherishes her husband.
Transferring Shakespeare's great portrayal of power and ambition to a twenty-first century restaurant was always going to be problematical, but to be honest, this is a botched effort that should have been aborted half way through the project. Everything is masterfully done, the acting, direction, everything. Keeley Hawes is incredible as well (to be honest I'd never seen her in anything before this, but she was absolutely perfect! Includes Much Ado About Nothing, MacBeth, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Taming of The Shew!

The characters are despicable, brave, honest, craven, selfish -- in other words, human. It just cuts straight to Bea thinking aloud about that revelation which is really weird since both of them overhearing their friends is a key turning point. Is this really the same Jo Nesbo who wrote "The Snowman" and the rest of the Harry Hole series?

As a Nesbo fan, I started reading it almost out of obligation, but a duty with pleasure. Deutsche Bank has supported an annual Playing Shakespeare production in the Globe Theatre since 2007. BAFTA Award nominated Shakespeare Retold updates the most famous dramatist in the world for a 21st century audience. Weird enough to keep your interest.
There were a few scenes of his in particular that had me absolutely riveted. Even the fact that the dialogue was "updated", if you will, did not bother me (something that usually does). Don't care for the works of Shakespeare? I'm embarrassed to say I've read this book..... Closer to the original than, say West Side Story, but you get the idea. Being a bit dubious at first, I made the mistake of reading other reviews. The 90-minute production, created especially for a schools audience, is complemented with free workshops and online activities.

Some become monstrous, as expected, but they never completely lose our sympathy. The name Joe Macbeth was used before, in a 1955 version with a gangster setting. It may be a matter of opinion, but I think that all the kitchen business does manage to fill the gap in interest left by the omission of Shakespeare's language (though no one could compare a pig's head to "Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow").
Then I saw "Much Ado about Nothing" which happens to be the best of these and my hopes soared. Was this review helpful? The only reason I give this disappointing update of Shakespeare's fine (though historically, offensively inaccurate!)
